National Public Health Week: April 3-9, 2023

National Public Health Week is April 3-9, 2023. The theme of National Public Health Week is “Centering and Celebrating Cultures in Health.”
Cowlitz County Health & Human Services (CCHHS) is sponsoring a Public Service Announcement (PSA) contest to raise awareness about a public health issue through an informative and educational message. There is no entry fee.
Express your PSA as a 30-second (or less) video/audio message, picture, or poster about a public health issue that is of interest to you and your community. Get creative and have fun! Fill out the Registration form, sign the Media Consent, and submit a PSA.
The winning PSA will be shown on the CCHHS Facebook page and website during National Public Health Week and for 60 days after the end of the contest. The winning PSA may also be broadcast by local television and radio stations during National Public Health Week.

Who can participate? ØCowlitz County residents, businesses, schools, church groups, and team members of all ages are invited to express their message about a public health issue. If you are under the age of 18, parents or legal guardians must also sign the registration form and photo permission form. |
What topics are allowed? ØTopics could include smoking, substance abuse, physical activity, nutrition, mental health, preventative medicine, oral health, emergency preparedness, food safety, childhood injury prevention, violence prevention, composting, clean water, healthy septic systems, litter free community, or another health topic promoting public health. |
What is not allowed to be submitted? ØCopyrighted music or images may not be used unless you own the copyright or have a license to use the material for this contest. ØAny entry containing nudity or profanity will be disqualified. |

Question: What is the prize?
Answer: The prize has not yet been determined and will depend on the entry (individual or group, adult or child) that wins. All we know at this point is the prize will be a small health-related item(s).Question: I'm a teacher and would like to get my class involved! Is there a release for parents to sign to share pictures/videos of minors appearing in the PSA video?
Answer: Groups should submit one main registration form and an individual registration/media consent form for each group participant. Please use the contact information below to request a modified release form. We are glad to print and deliver releases so that teachers do not have to.Kristin Young, Communications Manager
