School Safety

The School Program works to assure that public and private K-12 schools in Cowlitz County are constructed and operating in compliance with state safety and health regulations (WAC 246-366 - Primary and Secondary Schools). The health department accomplishes this by reviewing plans for the construction of new schools and the remodeling of older facilities, as well as following up on complaints regarding school environmental health and safety issues. The food program also inspects the facilities that provide food service on a regular basis.
