Noxious Weed Control Board meetings are held every 2nd Wednesday of each month (change to this schedule is announced in The Daily News and on our website). Meetings are conducted on the 2nd floor of the Administration Annex Building: 207 Fourth Avenue North; Kelso, WA 98626 (SEE MAP). Due to the mandated social distancing requirements in place during the current COVID-19 pandemic, the public meetings may be held solely over video and teleconference. Please check back prior to each month's meeting to confirm.

Board members serve a 4-year non-paying term position, appointed by the Cowlitz County Board of Commissioners. Board members also must live in the district in which they represent.

The Cowlitz County Noxious Weed Control Board submitted a public notice for publication in The Daily News, for the expiring term of Weed District #4 representatives, on December 5th and 13th, 2020 as well as August 31, 2021 for anyone interested in serving on the Noxious Weed Control Board. Appointments are conducted per the rules outlined in RCW 17.10.050.
The Cowlitz County Noxious Weed Control Board held a hearing on September 8, 2021 to consider all applicants. Immediately following the hearing, the Noxious Weed Board held its regularly scheduled public meeting to discuss any and all applicants for these expiring terms. The Noxious Weed Board recommends Mrs. Betty Engleman serve as the Weed District #4 representative.
Notice of Vacancy
The Cowlitz County Noxious Weed Control Board is accepting applications from residents interested in serving on the Noxious Weed Control Board. Appointments will be conducted per the rules outlined in RCW 17.10.050. Applications will be accepted and reviewed for the following expiring terms:
Weed District No. 4:
South Central County; Longview, Kalama, Owl Creek, Carrolls, Tunstall
This is a non-paying 4-year term position appointed by the Cowlitz County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) to oversee the noxious weed control program’s policies and priorities within the County.

All applications must be completed and received by the Noxious Weed Control Program, the position is vacant until filled.
The Noxious Weed Control Board will review applications at a hearing. Following the hearing, the Noxious Weed Control Board will hold their regular meeting to discuss applications and recommend candidates to the BOCC for the appointment of the District #4 position. The BOCC will appoint the new term, which will begin on the appointment date, and serve through February 28, 2025.
