Search Request Forms
The below form is used to request copies of court records from a Superior Court case file. You can request to have these copies provided to you physically or electronically. It is important to provide as much as information as possible so we can locate your case. For the Clerk to perform an archival search of cases not scanned into our case management system, there will be a non-refundable $15.00 deposit due before processing. We will deduct any subsequent copy costs from this deposit. For digital requests over 100 pages, there will be a $30.00 clerk service fee.
Please allow a minimum of 2 weeks after submission for your request to be completed. If you need it sooner, you will need to pay an additional $30.00 to expedite your request. Inaccurate or missing information may delay your request. Please note that dropbox links are valid for 14 days from completion. Files must be downloaded and stored locally if you want access beyond the 14 days. CD or thumb drive requests not picked up within 14 days will be destroyed. After the 14 day period, you will be required to submit a new request and pay associated fees
Liability for misuse of information received is the sole responsibility of the requestor. Copies of court records may not be used for commercial purposes and may not be resold. The Clerk's Office cannot provide a complete criminal history or records check. To perform a statewide search for cases, please visit www.courts.wa.gov. To perform a criminal history search, please visit www.watch.wsp.wa.gov.
Fees are assessed pursuant to RCW 36.18.016(4) and 36.18.016 (11).

The below form is used to request audio/video recordings of Superior Court courtroom proceedings. These recordings can be provided electronically via email (Dropbox) or USB thumb drive, or by CD (audio only). Note that there is a fee associated with these requests and will be due before processing. Please allow a minimum of 2 weeks after submission for your request to be completed. If you need it sooner than that, you will need to pay an additional $30 to expedite your request. Inaccurate or missing information may delay your request.
Liability for misuse of information received is the sole responsibility of the requestor. Digital recordings are made from the original master recordings made by Superior Court. These records are not certified for Court use and may not be used in place of an official transcript. The Cowlitz County Clerk's Office does not provide transcription services.
After you have received the courtroom recording, please be sure to download, for free, the FTR (For The Record) Desktop program. A copy of the program is included on Dropbox and thumb drives. This program is required to view/play the recordings.
