WHO WE ARE

Cowlitz County Parks and Recreation Department is made up of 9 parks including Riverside Park, Harry Gardner Park, Wood Brook Park, Public Shooting Range, Finn Hall historical site, Catlin Cemetery, Cook Ferry Trail System, Cougar Wayside and Statue, and the Coal Creek Boat Launch.


We are recognized for collaboration among public and private partnerships that build a healthy community, protect the natural environment and support high quality of life for all residents, now and into the future.

MISSION

Meeting community and tourist needs by providing a safe unified system of parks, trails, recreation facilities and natural areas that maintains environmental stewardship and provides diverse recreational programs and opportunities.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

  • Offer open space and park infrastructure that facilitates active and healthy lifestyles
  • Provide an environment that allows a variety of positive social interactions
  • Develop parks that accentuate and become a portal to the natural beauty of Cowlitz County
  • Practice, promote and preserve the historic and cultural heritage of Cowlitz County resources while being effective stewards of the land
