[ARCHIVED] Vaccination site at Cowlitz County Event Center will provide second doses only on March 24 & 25

LONGVIEW, Washington — A COVID-19 vaccination site at the Cowlitz County Event Center will provide second doses only this week on Wednesday and Thursday, March 24 and 25. Last week, 1,111 people returned to the site to receive their second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

People who got their first dose at the vaccination site on March 3 or 4 were given a second-dose appointment for March 24 or 25. They should return to the Cowlitz County Event Center (1900 7th Ave Longview) at the same time and day of week as their first-dose appointment.

How to prepare

This week, vaccination is by appointment only to people who received their first dose at the vaccination site three weeks ago. People who received their first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine elsewhere should return to the same location for their second-dose appointment.

People who get vaccinated at the Cowlitz County Event Center this week will be asked to provide the “COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card” they received at their first-dose appointment. The card states the first dose date and the vaccine type. They will also be asked to complete a consent form.

The consent form can be viewed and downloaded by clicking the link below or from the Cowlitz County Health and Human Services vaccine webpage. People can also complete the consent form at the vaccination site on the day of their appointment.

People can arrive by car or on foot no more than 10 minutes early. Drivers must go through the drive-thru line located at the 3rd Avenue entrance and walkers must enter through the 7th Avenue entrance. People should dress in clothing that allows vaccinators to easily access their upper arm.

Vaccination is free of charge for everyone whether or not they have health insurance.

Cowlitz County Health and Human Services is coordinating the vaccination site with Safeway. Added support comes from other Cowlitz County departments and local partners as well as an incident management team helping Cowlitz, Clark and Skamania counties setup vaccination sites.

People who have questions about their second-dose appointment at the Cowlitz County Event Center should call Cowlitz County Health and Human Services for assistance at (360) 414-5599 or visit: www.co.cowlitz.wa.us/CovidVaccine.

Second doses administered at three senior living communities
A mobile vaccination team made up of Cowlitz County Health and Human Services staff, Medical Reserve Corps volunteers and Safeway pharmacists returned to three senior living communities in Cowlitz County on Saturday to administer just over 200 second doses of the Pfizer vaccine. The team administered first doses at the locations on February 27.

The mobile vaccination site is part of Cowlitz County Health and Human Services’ continued effort to make COVID-19 accessible to people who are eligible for vaccine and who want to get vaccinated. Locations where residents can’t easily access vaccine and populations disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 are currently being prioritized by mobile vaccination teams.
