[ARCHIVED] Vaccination appointments at Cowlitz County Event Center open online at 2pm today

Vaccination appointments at Cowlitz County Event Center open online at 2pm today

LONGVIEW, Washington — A COVID-19 vaccination site at the Cowlitz County Event Center (1900 7th Ave, Longview) will open by appointment this Wednesday and Thursday, March 10 and 11. Starting at 2pm today, anyone who is eligible in Phase 1A or Phase 1B (Tier 1) can schedule an appointment online.

At 2pm today (March 8), visit co.cowlitz.wa.us/CovidVaccine to schedule a vaccination appointment at the Cowlitz County Event Center. Appointments are available for March 10 and 11 only.

Vaccination is by appointment only. Appointments must be made in advance.

Just over 1,100 first doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine will be administered by Safeway pharmacists at the vaccination site this week. Since opening the site, 2,315 first doses of the Pfizer vaccine have been given. Next Wednesday and Thursday, the vaccination site will focus on providing second doses only to ensure people are fully vaccinated.

Educators and staff for Pre-K through 12th grade and child care providers are now eligible in Phase 1B (Tier 1) of the state’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan and can schedule an appointment at the vaccination site this week. Those workers are being prioritized for COVID-19 vaccine in addition to older adults and others who are already eligible.

When scheduling an appointment online, people should make sure the time and day of week they select works for their first- and second-dose appointments. Second-dose appointments are automatically scheduled to take place at the same time, day of week and location of first-dose appointments exactly three weeks later.

People can arrive by car or on foot no more than 10 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment. Drivers must go through the drive-thru line located at the 3rd Avenue entrance. Walkers must enter through the 7th Avenue entrance. People who are getting vaccinated should dress in clothing that allows vaccinators to easily access their upper arm.

Upon arrival, people who are getting vaccinated may be asked to provide a copy of their appointment confirmation email or text message, identification to ensure registration information is accurate and proof of health insurance. A consent form must also be completed prior to first- and second-dose appointments.

Vaccination is free of charge for everyone whether or not they have health insurance.

The vaccination site is coordinated by Cowlitz County Health and Human Services and Safeway. Added support comes from other Cowlitz County departments and local partners as well as an incident management team helping Cowlitz, Clark and Skamania counties setup vaccination sites across the three county region.
