Online Candidate Filing
May 11 at 9 a.m. - May 15 at 4 p.m.
The online filing period has ended.
Online Filing Requirements:
- Be a registered voter in the district for which you are filing
- Pay with Visa, MasterCard or American Express (if position requires a filing fee)
- Provide a valid email address.
- Submit by 4 p.m. on Friday, May 15
In addition to filing with the Auditor’s Office, many candidates are required to file paperwork and regular reports with the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) within two weeks of starting a campaign.
Withdrawal of Declaration of Candidacy
The deadline to withdraw for the 2020 Primary and General Election is Monday, May 18, 2020 by 5 p.m.
A Declaration of Candidacy may be withdrawn by submitting a written request for withdrawal to the Elections Office no later than 5 p.m. on the Monday following the last day that candidates may file. If this deadline is missed, you cannot receive an extension. Filing fees are non-refundable.
Alternative to Filing Fees
Persons lacking sufficient funds to pay the filing fee may submit a filing fee petition. You must file in person at the Elections Office, located at 207 N 4th Avenue, Rm 107, Kelso, WA 98626. Filing fee petitions cannot be submitted online and are due no later than May 15th at 5 p.m. The amount of signatures required are based on the dollar amount of the filing fee for the position. No partial submission of payment and signatures will be accepted. Alternatively, candidates lacking sufficient funds may submit a COVID-19 Filing Fee Petition Attestation form in lieu of a filing fee petition.
