Register to vote

Requirements

To register to vote in the state of Washington, you must be:

  • A citizen of the United States
  • A legal resident of Washington State
  • At least 18 years old
    - If you are 16 or 17, you can sign up as a Future Voter and be automatically registered to vote when you qualify
  • Not currently serving a DOC sentence of total confinement for a Washington felony conviction
  • Not currently incarcerated for a federal or out-of-state felony conviction
  • Not disqualified from voting due to a court order

You must have a valid Washington State Drivers’ License, ID, or permit to register this way.

16 and 17-year-olds may pre-register, but they will not appear in the look-up system or receive a voter registration card until after their 18th birthday.
