PRESS RELEASE--July 11, 2011
Robbery at Kelso Convenience Store
Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office – At approximately
6:00 AM on July 8th, 2011 a male subject entered the Carnival
Market Store located at 829 West Side Hwy in Kelso, WA.
The subject purchased an item in the store and while paying the
store clerk, a second male subject entered the store and demanded the
money from the cash register.
The second subject placed his hand in his sweatshirt pocket to
indicate he had a gun. The store clerk gave him cash drawer and the
subject took the money out and both subjects ran from the store
together.
Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Deputies along with the
Longview Police and Kelso Police set up containment in the area.
The Centralia PD K9 Unit and Vader PD K9 Unit responded to assist
and searched the area around the store.
The suspects were not located.
The suspects are described as:
Suspect #1:
White male, 35-40 year old, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall
and weighing 170 lbs, clean shaven and wearing a black jacket.
Suspect #2:
White male, younger, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, thin
build, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with a blue bandana over his
face.
County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information from
anyone who may have been in the area at the time and who may have
information regarding the incident or suspects.

Update Friday January 9th 12:30 p.m.
Longview Homicide – Suspect Motor-home located in Portland
Longview, Wash – Cowlitz County detectives located the motor-home they
were seeking in Portland late last night. Detectives decline to provide
more details about the specific location it was found or why they wanted
the motor-home, other than to state that they have information that it
was used in the commission of the homicide of Jeremy McLean. The vehicle
has been turned over to the Portland Police Bureau for temporary storage
until Cowlitz County detectives can return to process the vehicle for
evidence.
Mr. William V. Reagan and his girlfriend Victoria Gatti remain in
custody in Portland pursuant to Cowlitz County Contempt of Court charges
related to drug activity. They have not been formally charged by Cowlitz
County with any other crimes at this time.
"Detectives state the tips from the public have been substantial in
value and they are very much appreciated" states Charlie Rosenzweig. One
particular caller stated they had significant information about the
murder and wanted a call, but the person failed to leave their contact

Update Monday Jan 5th 2009: Due to the fact that this is in an active
investigation and that some test results are still pending, we are
limiting the specific details of the death of Jeremy McLean. Coroner
Davidson is stating that McLean was shot, but is not going to describe
where McLean was shot, or whether he was shot more than one time. The
date/time of death is pending.
Detectives continue to interview people and follow up leads as they come
in. Callers who wish to remain anonymous have called Crime Stoppers,
which has been a valuable tool for investigators.
Sgt. Joe Reiss continues to lead the investigation and wants to thank
the public for all the information they have provided.

HOMICIDE VICTIM IDENTIFIED - CORRECTION - DATE REPORTED MISSING WAS
MONDAY NOT SUNDAY

Correction: The victim, Jeremy M. McLean, was reported missing Monday
night Dec 29th, 2008, around 11:30 p.m., not Sunday night. The Sheriff's
Office apologizes for the error.

LONGVIEW, Wash - The decease has been identified as 26 year old Jeremy
M. McLean of Longview. An autopsy was conducted earlier today, and the
case remains an active homicide investigation. The cause and manner of
death is pending.
The family has been notified. McLean was reported missing by his parents
last Sunday night after he did not return home that evening.
Due to the on-going nature of the investigation detectives do no want to
reveal any specifics about the nature of the victim's death that would
compromise the investigation.

Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office received a call
about 07:45am from a fisherman that he had located a body on the shores
of the Columbia River a short distance downstream from the Willow Grove
Boat Launch. This location is about 4 miles west of Longview Washington.
The deceased is an unidentified adult male. Cowlitz County detectives
and the Cowlitz County Coroner responded to the scene. Circumstances
from the scene indicate as though foul play is involved and the case is
being treated as a homicide.
More information, such as the identify of the victim and cause and
manner of death will be released when they are known.

The Sheriff appoints one
sworn member from the Office to act as the Public Information Officer
(PIO). The Public Information Officer acts as a media manager
for the Office and ensures that the media has full access to all
appropriate information stemming from Office activities. The PIO
writes news releases, conducts interviews with television, radio and
newspaper media and controls access to sensitive crime scenes.
Beyond providing information about
major crimes and incidents, the PIO also promotes a positive
relationship between the Office and the community by publicizing
various programs and activities involving the Sheriff's Office.
The PIO also utilizes the media to communicate information to the
public in the event of emergencies and to solicit public assistance
and witness information to help solve crimes when appropriate. |
