The Road Division, under the
direction of the County Engineer, is responsible for the
county road system:
- Design
- Construction
- Maintenance
The functions of the division include:
- Planning
- Scheduling
- Obtaining funding for all road projects
- Developing plans and specifications for
construction projects
- Purchasing right-of-way
- Obtaining necessary permits
- Inspecting projects
- Testing and keeping records to comply with
various federal, state and local laws
Private and public utility work within the
public road right-of way, and new subdivisions are inspected for compliance
with applicable standards.
Road maintenance crews maintain the county
roads and drainage by:
- Patching
- Oiling
- Brush removal
- Ditch and culvert cleaning
- Driveway culvert installation
- Snow removal
- Drainage control and maintenance
- Signing and pavement markings
Installation or Maintenance of Utilities Within the County Road Right-of-Way
Utility
Accommodation Policy - Defines
the criteria and design requirements for the accommodation of utilities
within the county road right-of-way.
Notification of
Proposed Work on County Road Right-of-Way - A Notification
Application is required any work within the County road right-of-way that
meets the following criteria:
- Utility service connections with a
length of 250 feet or less
- Boring/Jacking of utility pipes or
conduits with a diameter of two inches or less
Application to Perform
Work Within County Road Right-of-Way - A permit application is
required for all utility work within the County road right-of-way, other
than that meeting the criteria for a "Notification" as stipulated herein.
