May 23 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. Wednesday Workshop for school age children. Native Americans of North America:  Northeastern Woodlands Nations.
May 24 7:00 p.m. "Memory Cranes"  For eight years Patty Wood has been folding paper cranes in memory of American troops killed in the Iraq War.  The wings of nearly 4,500 cranes each bear the name, age and rank of an American military service member. Now that the war has ended the cranes will be displayed at the museum beginning May 24th through the summer.  For the opening of the display there will be a short evening program at the museum in which Patty Wood will talk about the memory cranes she created, and museum staff will add information about how Cowlitz County has paid tribute to the military in the past.
May 26 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. "Memorial Day Family Open House"  All families are welcome to stop by the museum for Memorial Day crafts and activates.  Learn how to fold paper cranes to remember our fallen troops as Patty Wood did, make flags and flowers to place on the graves our solders on Memorial day, and more.
June 7 7:00 p.m. 'Family & Vacation Photos ' Do's, Don'ts & FAQ'.  John Markon, Daily News Editor and photographer will share tips about taking family and vacation pictures that create appealing images for your albums or Facebook page. This will be a mostly non-technical, illustrated presentation that is open to questions and answers.  Then, Jim Elliott, museum office manager, and Bill Watson, museum Curator, will expand on a previously explored topic from a heavily attended early 2011 program. In a workshop format, they will share scanning  tips and techniques, as well as a practical walk through the process of prepare to scan your family's pre-digital photographs, archiving and preserving these  heirloom photos, organizing your digital images (original and scanned), and securing your library.
