Legends of the Cowlitz
Indian Tribe
Roy I. Wilson
Most of these legends are very ancient. A few are more modern. Many of them speak of the, time before people became animals. Much can be learned about the culture and belief system of our ancestors through their stories. As your
read these ancient stories you might possibly recognize yourself as a Coyote, Bear, Cougar, Beaver, or some other type of animal person. You are the legend, and the legend is you. Your community may be the legend, and the legend your community. Look for yourself and the members of your personal community in these legends.
Numerology plays an important role in the mysticism of many ancient cultures. The number "five" is very prominent in the mysticism of our ancient heritage. It represents completion, fulfillment, finalization, complete power.
Look for the story hidden within the story. When you find it you will discover yourself.
