Probation Officers are occasionally
assigned by the court to conduct home investigations and write reports to the
Superior Court regarding proposed adoptions. The Juvenile Department is
appointed by a Superior
Court Judge to interview the prospective adoptive parent(s) and write a
report for the Judge. That process may include having the prospective
adoptive parent(s) provide this department with such information as social,
financial, and medical history. They will also be required to be
fingerprinted, either by someone in our department or by one of the local police
agencies.
Once the required information is provided and the fees have been paid, the
prospective parent(s) will be contacted by one of this department's probation
officers who will then make an appointment for an interview, also referred to as
a "home study." The probation officer will then write a report
to the court of their findings which is filed with the Superior
Court Clerk.
