Visitation Information
Visitors:
Residents in Detention may have visitors. Visitors will be limited to parents
and custodial guardians, clergy, attorneys, and caseworkers.
Visitors will not bring into detention
any handbags, side or backpacks, sacks, packages, or boxes.
Visitors will not bring in food or drinks
to any resident.
Visitors will not give or provide
anything or item to any resident without first receiving approval from the
detention staff.

Each resident will be granted TWO
visits a week. Visitation will be visually
observed. Residents may be searched after visitation.
All visitors must present a picture ID
before visitation is granted. Visits will not be granted if your identification
cannot be confirmed.
If a resident refuses to receive a visitor,
he/she will not be forced into visitation. If a visitation is obviously
upsetting the resident or parent, or if tempers flare, the detention staff may
terminate the visit.
Visitors who are obviously intoxicated will not
be allowed a visit.
Other Detention Information
Telephone: Residents
are allowed to call their parents, guardians, clergy, attorney and caseworker.
They may call their parents or guardians each day when they are not in school.
All calls are collect. All problems concerning resident phones should be taken
up with Gateway Technologies billing department @ 1-888-610-7079.
Residents are not allowed incoming phone calls.
If you do not have a phone, please make prior arrangements with the detention
staff as to how the resident can call you.
RESIDENTS WILL BE ISSUED CLOTHING AND PERSONAL
HYGIENE ITEMS
Medications:
Prescription medications must be packaged in
single dose packets only. If you cannot find a
pharmacy that will package the medications in single dose packets, please call
detention; staff will be glad to give you a list of pharmacies that will.
Residents sentenced to 72
hours or less are not allowed visits. They may bring
their own toothpaste and hair brush.

In the event of a natural or man-made
disaster,
Cowlitz County Juvenile Detention will release residents from detention. Parents
or guardians should contact the Detention Center for information pertaining to
the release of their child. Residents who cannot be released, will be
transported to the nearest safe facility.
