K9 Teams
The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office K9 Team provides a highly trained K9 handler/dog team to augment law enforcement services within Cowlitz County. They endeavor to provide a handler/dog team capable of rapid deployment when requested, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The team consists of a commissioned Deputy and a highly trained Police Dog. The team must complete the requirements as set forth by the Washington Administrative Code (WAC), then pass the accreditation testing standards of the Washington State Police Canine Association (WSPCA). The team trains at least monthly. The K9 program has been funded by the Board of Commissioners for Cowlitz County since 2000; however, generous donations and contributions from the community continue to support the team. If you would like to support the K9 program or would just like to ask a question or request further information, please contact the Sheriff's Office during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.
