Document Recording Fee / Affordable Housing
During the 2002 Regular Session of the Washington State Legislature, SHB 2060, now codified as RCW 36.22.178, was passed providing funds to counties for efforts to secure affordable housing for low and very low income persons.  The monies may be used for among other things, acquisition, construction, or rehabilitation of housing developments or individual units.

During the 2005 Regular Session of the Washington State Legislature, ESSHB 2163, now codified as RCW 36.22.179 and RCW 43.185c.050, was passed providing funds to counties to reduce homelessness.  The monies may be used for, among other things.

  *     the cost of developing affordable housing for homeless persons and services for formerly homeless individuals and families residing in transitional housing or permanent housing and still at risk of homelessness, or

  *     operating subsidies for transitional housing or permanent housing serving formerly homeless families or individuals; or

  *     services to prevent homelessness; or

  *     outreach services for homeless individuals and families.

During the 2007 Regular Session of the Washington State Legislature, E2SHB 1359, now codified as RCW 36.22.179 & 43.185(c).060, was passed providing funds to counties to be used to accomplish goals of the local homeless housing plan.
