What
is the Temporary Food Permits program?
Temporary food
permits are required of food services operating during a single public event at a fixed location for 21
consecutive days
or less. Such events include fairs,
carnivals, circuses, public exhibitions, festivals, fund raisers,
and similar transitory gatherings.
According to state
food safety regulations (WAC 246-215-190), a temporary
food service permit application and fee must be submitted to the
Cowlitz County Health Department prior to the event. In addition,
all food handlers must read and sign the Temporary Food Regulations
form, which must be posted at the event site. Food handlers must
also possess a valid Washington Food and Beverage Worker's
Permit.
