How
to submit plans for review
Prior to construction or
remodeling, food service establishments must submit detailed design
plans and equipment specifications to the Cowlitz County Health
Department for approval. An environmental health specialist
reviews these plans and specifications for compliance to WAC
246-215.
Plan review submittals require information on floor plans, site plans, menus, methods of
food preparation, kitchen equipment, ventilation, bathroom
facilities, and provision of approved water and sewage disposal.
After approval and when
construction is complete, a pre-opening inspection is conducted to
assure that the facility is in compliance with the approved plans
and food service safety regulations (WAC 246-215). Based upon
compliance, a food establishment permit is issued and the business
may open.
Plan review application
packets and annual permit applications may be obtained online or at
the Health Department during normal business hours. The packet
includes food service regulations, a plan review checklist and a
plan review receipt form. There is a fee for both the plan
review and permit applications.
