  • Check with your provider, in May 2007, about the availability of Rotavirus and HPV vaccine. 

  • Your child must meet the new 2007 vaccine requirements to enter school.  Don't wait, check with your school or provider to make sure your child is current with their vaccine.

What services are provided by Health Department professionals for Cowlitz County?

  • Provide immunizations at clinics in the Health Department and around the county.

  • Information concerning immunization requirements for entry into schools, preschools and child care facilities. 

  • Primarily serve children, travelers and senior citizens.

  • Education outreach in regard to immunizations provided and preventive care by using vaccines of preventable diseases.

  • Training for staff of private health care providers on proper handling, storage, immunization techniques, proper interpretation of schedules and accurate usage of state provided vaccines.

  • Community education to targeted populations with information on particular disease risks and encouragement to get vaccines.

What immunizations are provided at the Health Department?

The Cowlitz County Health Department provides vaccines for:

Children:  DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis), PEDIARIX (DTaP, Hepatitis B, IPV), polio, H influenza B (HIB), hepatitis A, hepatitis B, MMRV (MMR and Varicella), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), pneumonia vaccine for 2 years old and older and Prevnar, pneumonia vaccine for children up to two years old, chicken pox (Varicella), Rotavirus, HPV, and vaccine against influenza.

Adult:  Typhoid, Td, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, combination vaccine that includes both hepatitis A and B, Twinrix, pneumonia vaccine and influenza vaccine.

Traveler:  Hepatitis A and B, chicken pox, typhoid and tetanus.

No child is denied immunizations due to inability to pay!

Adult, Adolescent and Child Immunization Schedules

New 2007 Vaccine Requirements

Hepatitis B: Kindergarten through Grade 10
Varicella (Chicken Pox): Kindergarten and Grades 1 and 6
MMR: 2 doses measles, mumps, and rubella--all grades
Tdap: 1 dose for students in Grade 6 who are age 11 and older if it has been 5 years since the last Diphtheria/Tetanus vaccine.

Implementation plans and other information related to Varicella, MMR and Tdap implementation have been developed and are available on DOH School Immunization website
