One function of the
department is to provide Code Enforcement activities. Violations of
specific County Codes are often received through complaints from
citizens or from staff members noting violations while performing their
other job functions.
When a violation is noted, a
staff member will make initial contact with the appropriate parties
either in person or in writing to inform them of the violation and the
need to take appropriate action. If the issue cannot be resolved after
this initial contact, we will begin a process of written warnings and/or
issuance of a civil infraction citations. Fines associated with these
citations range in severity but can often accumulate to several thousand
dollars if the violation is not corrected.
To report a violation of building codes, solid waste
codes, or a sewage issue you can fill out a
Request
for Investigation form and submit it to the Department.
