The Building Division is responsible for enforcement
of the State Building Code Act and County ordinances regulating
construction. The Division administers the: |
- International Building Code,
- International Residential Code,
- International Fire Code,
- Uniform Plumbing Code,
- International Mechanical Code,
- International Fuel Gas Code
- Washington State Energy Code,
- Washington State Historic
Building Code,
- Washington State Indoor Air
Quality Code,
- and the Uniform Code for the
Abatement of Dangerous Buildings.

Fire Marshal's Office
Staff
in the office of the County Fire Marshal conduct fire and life
safety inspections of existing facilities and issues required permits;
to maintain, store, use or handle materials and to conduct processes
regulated by the International Fire Code.
The County Fire Marshal also:
- Provides fire prevention education
to schools, service organizations, and other governmental agencies
upon request.
- Investigates cause and origin
of fires that occur in unincorporated areas of the county.
