Welcome!

Welcome to the Cowlitz County Comprehensive Plan Update website. This is an exciting time for our County! For the first time in over 30 years, we are reviewing and updating our Comprehensive Plan! 

The plan update kicks off this summer with a variety of interactive, hands-on vision activities for young and old. You’ll see activities at community fairs, Longview Farmers’ Market, some major employers, chamber of commerce meetings, and other events in your neighborhoods. There is also a vision survey. You, your neighbors, and the entire Cowlitz County community are needed to help us understand how and where you think the County should grow. We want to hear from you:

• What do you think about Cowlitz County?

• What are the best and worst things about living here?

• How do you want the county to grow over the next 20 years?

Over the next year, there will be more ways to participate. Summer visioning will end with three community workshops in October where a countywide vision statement and goals will be presented. Keep checking back for more information.

The Comprehensive Plan Update is a call to action - for county officials, community leaders, residents, land owners, business owners and other key stakeholders to work together to develop an achievable plan for short and long-term policy decisions and public/private investment.

Please take a minute to learn about our approach and the tools we will use. This site will be updated regularly with meeting announcements, meeting minutes, and draft planning documents.
