Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

The GIS Department provides mapping services, mapping software, training, and other spatially-related information to county departments. GIS also provides web-based maps for the public.

GIS data can be used to perform robust spatial analysis to assist with planning and decision making efforts. GIS also produces a road atlas that is available for download as a pdf.


Cowlitz County (County) provides GIS information to the general public and has not tailored public GIS information for accuracy for any specific, official purpose. The information contained therein was generated from GIS data maintained by different sources and agencies. Areas depicted by these digital products are approximate, and are not necessarily accurate to mapping, surveying, or engineering standards. These digital products are for illustration purposes, only, and are PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “WITH ALL FAULTS”.  They are not intended for site-specific decision making, are subject to ongoing amendments, and may not be complete or accurate.
